Birds Of The Beach
Join Andrew Goodall for a day-long exploration of Sunshine Coast beaches, in search of great bird photography opportunities. From Caloundra to Coolum there are some amazing spots for getting close to birds of all shapes and sizes. The highlight for many is the chance of capturing birds of prey in flight. And if you need some tips, remember you are traveling with one of the best photography teachers around!
Schedule
You will be collected from your Sunshine Coast accommodation at 9.00am and your personalised day of photography begins. We may visit locations from Caloundra to Coolum and the order may vary depending on where you are staying. There is no ‘set in stone’ itinerary – if we don’t find birds in one location we will move on to spend more time in others. And if you are enjoying a great photo opportunity you won’t be dragged away just to ‘stick to the schedule.’ Remember that your tour host is a photographer who understands that good photography takes time.
We will stop for lunch at a suitable location depending where we are at the time. Lunch is at your own expense and you may choose to grab a sandwich at a bakery or sit down at a cafe. There are so many options available, we can find something to suit all tastes. Public toilets can be found in almost every park and picnic area so we can stop whenever you need.
Your tour continues until the sun goes down – as any photographer knows, your best photos are often taken at ‘golden hour’ in the last minutes of sunlight for the day. When the light is gone and photography is over for the day you will be returned to your accommodation. If you need to be back sooner just let Andrew know.
Wildlife
We are visiting wild animals in their natural habitat so every tour experience is different. Some birds activity is seasonal. Before you booking you must understand that sightings of any particular bird cannot be guaranteed. Species you may see on a typical tour include:

ANDREW GOODALL is a renowned Australian nature photographer and teacher. He has hosted photography tours all over Australia and overseas. As a skilled and encouraging teacher, he is not only a great companion to have on tour – he can also provide tips and help you with your camera skills if you need it.
