Getting a good camera is just the first step. Now let me show you how to use it!
Learning photography shouldn’t be complicated – it should be inspiring and fun. My two-day Photography Essentials Workshop in Maleny takes a step-by-step, plain English approach and is the ideal introduction to the world of creative photography.
Photography Essentials is perfect for beginners, and also for people who have been practicing on their own and need some help putting the pieces together. We start with the absolute basics and work our way up from there. The first day is all about the camera: Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO, Lenses, Autofocus, White Balance and more. On day two we look at light and creative composition. The pace is relaxed and there is plenty of time for you to ask questions.
The skills you learn at Photography Essentials will help you with almost any kind of photography…landscapes, wildlife, portraits, sports, travel and more.
Matching theory with practice. At Photography Essentials the first half of each day is indoors, explaining all the theory you need to know (in plain English and with plenty of photos to illustrate). So when we go outside to practice, you don’t just know which button to press: you know what each button is for. Most so-called workshops just take you somewhere pretty and give you a few pointers. Photography Essentials is a fully planned and structured course with just the right balance of theory and hands-on.

Many people know how to take photos, but very few know how to teach. To learn photography you don’t just need someone who is good with a camera; you need someone who knows how to communicate in terms you can understand. I have been teaching for over a decade and have helped over 2,000 people – including some professionals – make a start in creative photography. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see testimonials from just a few of my past students.
Some workshops sell out weeks in advance, so BOOK NOW to avoid disappointment!
